1) Register .com or .co.uk domain
Broadly speaking each page on the Internet has a name. The name consists of a domain name with extensions that identify a specific page. You can register your own unique domain name or you can share a common domain name.
Common Domain Names Include:
- ukbusiness.com
- compuserve.com
- demon.co.uk
- dircon.co.uk
- uunet.pipex.com
- netcomuk.co.uk
If your company was called “ACME” and you decided to use an existing domain address such as ukbusiness.com address then the Internet address of your page would be:
http://www.ukbusiness.com/acme/
Alternatively you could choose to register and use your own domain name, if for example you registered your domain name as “acme.co.uk” then your Internet address would be:
http://www.acme.co.uk
‘ukbusiness.com’ can process a domain registration for you. The cost for this service covers the administration of the process including checking availability, completing required documentation and paying the first two years fee.
2) Maintain .com or .co.uk domain
Once registered domains are maintained on a DNS server “Domain Name Server”. This is a computer permanently connected to the Internet, which supplies information to other computers about your domain. For example where your web site is and where your E-Mail should be delivered. All active domains must have a DNS entry.
3) Release .com or .co.uk domain
In the event that you wish to move your domain elsewhere, there is an administration fee for us to release the registration and DNS entry details.
Note: By registering a .uk domain name, you enter into a contract of registration with Nominet UK on the following terms and conditions
(Click here to read the Nominet terms & conditions).
This is a separate contract to any arrangement you may have with any third party for the provision of internet services.
Please read before proceeding with your order.
